Guest Speaker-Rick Gauer (parking and traffic committee)

 

Update on Parking and Traffic Committee.  Committee is currently trying to match spaces up with employees/students. Proposal to not allow faculty to park in student spaces and limit faculty parking to number of faculty plus 20%. The SGA wants open parking. The parking committee does not want open parking.

 

Discussion.

 

The Faculty Senate rejects the above proposals.

            Acceptance of March faculty senate minutes - accepted

            Officer’s Report - none

            Standing Committee Reports - none

            President’s Cabinet Meeting

            2004-2005 calendar wants input on empty spaces(handout)

            COP 3.10 - tabled

            Fleet plan - passed

            Family Housing – Married vs unmarried

            Charles Reed - Grants varied according to need

            HUD overview - qualified for one item (out of 131)

           

Old Business

            Management Council Update

Proposed that the faculty senate will have a representative from each campus.

 

            Input into systems at other levels

Suggestion the each faculty senate can put item on the agenda of Vice President meeting.

 

            Contract renewal / tenure

            Starting a multi-campus committee to start process.

 

            Annual Contract

Appointment Letter wording should change. Before 1993 there were different wording on the letters.

            Going back to president cabinet.

            June 18 (Friday)

 

            Scholarship Raffle Committee

            Need ways to raise money. Bring a new book to sell back to the bookseller.

            Considering buying a Dell laptop to raffle up.

           

Research Office Development Manual – accepted by Senate

           

            Academic Chair Resignation

Amy Patrick-resigned. President will wait until after the election and appoint the elected chair of the Academic Committee
