ITEMS OF CONSIDERATION
I. Faculty Senate concerns that President Matus will be voicing at the next meeting of the Waco Campus President's Council will include the following:
A. The proposed new policy on overtime pay which raises the minimum required departmental averages for contact hours and periods taught. There is particular concern about increasing the departmental contact hour requirement--since most second year technical courses are long on periods of instruction but short in students due to attrition.
B. The status of the proposed faculty compensation package. There are concerns about only using the evaluation instrument without follow through on implementing the faculty compensation proposal in its entirety.
C. The requirement that new students of certificate programs be required to take as many as three remediation courses as well as PSYC 1100. There is a strong concern among several members of the Faculty Senate that such a requirement will jeopardize the long-term enrollment prospects of the certificate programs. Once current certificate students go through the frustration of being prevented from taking what they came here for, it is felt that we will loose our best recruiters--satisfied students.
II. Proposed meeting time for called general Faculty Senate meetings included two suggestions:
A. Friday afternoons at 3PM.
B. One weeknight at 5PM.
We would like feedback from the faculty regarding a suitable time.
III. Need to review the Faculty Senate constitution.
