Executive Committee Meeting
December 18, 2000
Minutes

Attendees: Richard Wheet, Ed Price, Theresa Holmberg, Joyce Petter (?), and Bob Larsen

Bob Larsen gave an update to the e-mail verification. 12 departments have been done. There are 17 department left to go. Should have them done by the end of January.

Richard reported on the 15-24 hour minimum. Elton is not that receptive to the idea of a minimum. He feels that the faculty doesn't have that much to do since he sees that the parking lots are not full at 8am and 5pm. Dr. Ellis understands that there is no 8-5 mentality since a lot of instructors work at night and flex in the mornings.

Richard also gave an update to the flextime and overload. Dr. Ellis is receptive to the idea of taking flextime at the end of the semester during the break instead of taking flextime during the semester. She also feels that it would encourage Instructors to teach at night. Elton is worried about the entire faculty taking off at once. Overload could be handled in the same manner, instead of getting paid for overload you could take that time off during the breaks between semesters. It was mentioned that this could all be left up to the Program chairs. Richard asked for a vote to make a formal resolution to take to the Faculty Senate meeting on January 8th.

Richard officially appointed the following members for the Committee to discuss the pros and cons of being a State Employee (agency) versus Faculty (higher ed).

Committee Chair: Ed Price

Frank Gentry, Physics
Garry Sigler, Mathematics
Steve Betros, Electronics
Kristi Todd, Digital Media Design
